Job Title: Tech Lead, Senior Engineer, or Staff Engineer depending on preference.

Location: Remote-first (Americas or Europe). Optional NYC HQ office available.

Salary range: $200k - $250k+ depending on experience and location. Exceptions on a case-by-case basis and determined relative to open comp standards. See below for our approach.

Taxwire is building the last global sales tax platform. We help companies understand tax exposure, automate compliance, and shield their business from risk across every jurisdiction, industry, and edge case from SMBs to enterprise.

Our Mission: To make global transaction tax compliance a commodity for businesses and governments around the world. Sales tax, VAT, tariffs, duties, gross receipts, transfer tax, etc. have become exponentially more complex as digital commerce and regulatory demands grow. Most companies rely on a mix of legacy software, manual processes, and human services to fully manage their global tax burdens. We believe that solving for enterprise-grade tax compliance requires re-building core infrastructure from the ground up: from source tax law to automated calculation, filings, and remittance. Our approach: Taxwire re-built the enterprise-grade tax engine from zero. Our platform can monitor, calculate, file, remit, and explain taxes across the full spectrum of complexity faced by mid-market and enterprise customers. We cover multiple industries, support both US and international taxes, calculate at a rooftop level, automate traditional services, and more.

Taxwire delivers broad coverage across: industries, jurisdictions, and tax types; rooftop-level accuracy and traceability for audit-proof compliance, fast implementations without bloated service layers, and fair pricing relative to value. We keep our customers compliant and protect them from risk.

Lead the design and development of Taxwire’s integrations platform for ingesting, normalizing, and annotating business data.

Build and scale bidirectional integrations with billing, accounting, ERP, commerce, and HRIS platforms (e.g. Stripe, QuickBooks, Netsuite, Shopify).

Architect low-code/no-code tools (e.g. connector builder, declarative DSLs, LLM-assisted workflows), and choose between integration strategies (unified API, in-house, contractors) to accelerate integration development and maintenance.

Design and implement interfaces that let customers connect their business data seamlessly to our tax engine and compliance configuration.

Ensure integrations are secure, resilient, and performant at scale, supporting high-volume financial and transactional data.

Collaborate closely with product, design, tax experts, and customers to translate complex, ambiguous workflows into intuitive software experiences.

Mentor engineers, establish technical standards, and guide architecture for integrations and data-heavy systems.

7+ years of full-time engineering experience, at least 2+ of which are on integrations roles

Strong background in building integrations for data-heavy use cases; fintech, tax, or financial platforms (Stripe, QuickBooks, etc.) a plus

Hands-on depth in Python and modern backend systems; React or Temporal experience is a bonus

Experience architecting or working on integrations platforms, data platforms, or similar large-scale API ecosystems.

Technical leadership experience (Tech Lead, Staff, Principal, or EM), ideally in pre-Series C startups

Curiosity and persistence in tackling ambiguous, high-stakes technical problems like low-code builder design, LLM-assisted workflows, and data enrichment

Pragmatic judgment: know when to ship quickly vs. when to invest in foundational architecture.

Comfortable working in a remote-first, high-trust, high-ownership environment.
