We’re looking for an experienced back end engineer who thrives in a high autonomy, fast paced environment with a focus on impact to contribute to our mission to bring process knowledge to life—making it discoverable, actionable, and continuously useful.

At the team level you’ll work on a cross functional product team with a pm, designer and mix of frontend and backend engineers focused on delivering and growing a new ‘Adopt’ sku as well as core product work focused on helping users accomplish their goals within the tools they use.

Within the larger engineering org, you’ll have opportunities to contribute to setting process and standards in our backend engineering group as well as experimenting with ai tools and contributing toward our overall strategies and best practices in this rapidly evolving ai driven development world.

📌 About the Role

As a Sr Backend Engineer at Scribe, you will:

• Build and ship backend features in our Django monolith, spanning across existing adoption and suggestion features as well as new greenfield projects that expand our Adopt team mission

• Improve performance and reliability by optimizing database queries, endpoints, and caching layers across critical user workflows

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to deliver intuitive and reliable experiences at scale

• Contribute to technical discussions within the team, balancing short-term delivery with longer-term architectural evolution

• Uphold strong engineering practices through thoughtful code reviews, solid test coverage, and attention to observability and performance

🌎 Location

While we’re a globally distributed team, this role requires you to live permanently in the US.

🧩 What Makes You a Great Fit

• You have 5+ years of experience building backend applications at high scale and availability

• You have extensive experience with Python

• You know how to optimize endpoint performance and database queries

• You’re a strong advocate for automated testing

• Comfortable working with a distributed team

• Low ego, high curiosity

• Generally proactive but especially when it comes to communication. This is a high urgency team and we need people who are determined to make rapid progress.

• Comfortable owning ambiguous problems while bringing clarity for others working on them or invested in the outcome

💰 Compensation

We use trusted market data and a tiered location system to ensure competitive, equitable pay. The range below reflects this; your specific offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, location, and overall fit for the role.

$150,000 - $200,000 base + Equity + Benefits
