About Nominal
Nominal is building the software infrastructure that powers the world's most advanced hardware systems, from spacecraft and autonomous vehicles to next-generation industrial machines. Our platform ingests high-rate telemetry, validates complex software systems in real time, and helps engineering teams iterate faster without sacrificing safety or precision. We're a small, fast-moving team of engineers and operators who own problems end-to-end, work across disciplines, and thrive on solving challenges at the intersection of hardware and software. As a dual-use platform, we're serving top-tier commercial and defense customers, including the U.S. Navy, United States Air Force, Shield AI, and Anduril.
We're backed by top-tier investors (Sequoia, General Catalyst, Founders Fund, Lux Capital, and Lightspeed Ventures) who share our mission to accelerate innovation in mission-critical systems. Our team brings experience from SpaceX, Palantir, Anduril, Applied Intuition, and other leading companies, united by a common goal: enabling hardware engineers to push the boundaries of advanced technology with speed, safety, and precision.
🚀 About the role
We’re looking for a Web Designer with strong visual taste and a bias toward shipping. This role is focused on elevating Nominal’s brand and storytelling across our marketing website and web experiences. You’ll work closely with Design and Marketing to shape narrative, layout, and interaction polish, and partner with Engineering (or implement directly) to ensure what we ship is maintainable, performant, and accessible.
🤔 What You'll Do:
- Design and ship high-polish pages and web experiences that communicate product value quickly and clearly
- Translate brand direction and copy into web-native design: layout, typography, motion, and interaction
- Create and iterate on concepts, landing pages, and launch assets from brief to production
- Build interactive prototypes and explorations to quickly test and refine ideas
- Collaborate with Design, Marketing, and Engineering to align on intent, feasibility, and execution
- Maintain a high bar for accessibility, performance, and cross-browser behavior
- Contribute to reusable components and content patterns to speed up future launches
- Use AI tools to accelerate exploration, generate variations, and tighten polish from idea to implementation
🔍 We're looking for someone with
- A portfolio showcasing strong visual taste and shipped web/brand work (sites, landing pages, storytelling)
- Experience designing marketing websites, landing pages, or product storytelling surfaces
- Comfort working with modern web constraints (responsive layouts, performance, accessibility)
- Basic experience with HTML/CSS/JavaScript/TypeScript and/or experience building in Framer or Webflow
- Strong communication skills and an ability to articulate design decisions and tradeoffs
🔍 Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with React and modern component-based UI development
- Comfort with Tailwind and component-level styling systems
- Familiarity with Shadcn (or similar primitives)
- Experience with animation and interaction techniques (Framer Motion, Lottie, etc.)
✨ Benefits/Perks
- 🏥 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 🏖️ Unlimited PTO and sick leave
- 🍽️ Free lunch, snacks, and coffee
- 🚀 Professional Development Stipend
- ✈️ Annual company retreat
