Founding Growth Lead
Joyful Health
Building the financial operating system for healthcare, and bringing the joy back to healthcare by fixing the financial chaos behind it.
The healthcare payment system is a complex and inefficient maze - healthcare practices leave $125 billion in revenue uncollected each year, lost in the chaos of fragmented financial data, manual workflows, and opaque payer systems. This financial uncertainty leaves practices struggling to stay afloat, while valuable revenue slips through the cracks.
Joyful Health is building the AI-powered financial operating system for healthcare practices. Our mission is to bring the joy back to running a private practice by simplifying financial operations so providers can focus on patient care. We spent 10 months working as fractional CFOs for a dozen practices, doing this work side by side with providers as we developed our product.
We just closed a funding round led by world-class investors and angels including the founders of MongoDB & KAYAK.
🚀 We have an enormous opportunity in front of us. The broken healthcare payment ecosystem impacts practices of all sizes, and the opportunity to make a real difference is massive.
This role is full-time. We’re looking for someone NYC-based who is open to coming into the office 3 days a week.
The base pay range for this role is $175,000–$220,000 per year.
Role Description
We're looking for a Founding Director of Growth to define and build Joyful Health's growth engine from the ground up. This is a senior leadership role for someone who can set the strategy, build the systems, and eventually hire and manage the team that drives our inbound pipeline through ecosystem development, events, conferences, content, and strategic partnerships.
You'll own Joyful's entire go-to-market growth function. That means developing our growth strategy, deciding where and how we show up in the market, building programs that generate warm, high-quality pipeline, and creating the infrastructure to measure and scale what works. You'll have real budget ownership and a seat at the table on company strategy.
This is a role for someone who's done this before (or something close to it) and is ready to do it again at a company where the mission matters and the market opportunity is massive. You know how to build trust at scale, create remarkable experiences, and turn ecosystem presence into revenue. You're as comfortable setting the quarterly plan as you are running a dinner for 30 practice leaders.
You'll work closely with our CEO, sales team, and RCM experts, and you'll have the autonomy to shape this function in a way that reflects your experience and instincts.
This role is full-time. We’re looking for someone who is NYC based for this role, and is open to coming to the office 3 days a week.
What you'll do…
Own Joyful's growth strategy
Define and execute our go-to-market growth strategy across events, partnerships, communities, and content.
Set priorities on where Joyful shows up (and where we don't), and why.
Build the growth roadmap and align it with company goals and sales targets.
Manage the growth budget and allocate resources across programs.
Build and scale our inbound growth engine
Turn Joyful's credibility and expertise into a scalable source of warm, high-intent pipeline.
Partner closely with sales to ensure ecosystem-driven leads convert and feed a healthy funnel.
Turn one-off activations into repeatable, scalable programs.
Run new growth experiments and double down on what works.
Lead events and ecosystem programs end-to-end
Own all Joyful-hosted events (virtual + in-person): RCM bootcamps, workshops, AMAs, conferences, roundtables, and intimate dinners.
Ensure flawless logistics, memorable attendee experiences, and airtight follow-up.
Work with Joyful's RCM experts, who serve as subject matter experts and speakers.
Develop and manage strategic partnerships
Build relationships with other vendors, RCM consultants, associations, and clinician communities.
Structure referral relationships and collaborative educational programs.
Create enablement materials for partners and coordinate joint sessions that drive credibility and pipeline.
Build the operational backbone for growth
Translate ecosystem activity into clear, trackable inbound pipeline.
Own CRM processes for inbound routing, attribution, and reporting.
Measure performance across all programs and report on what's working.
Codify playbooks, templates, and processes so the function scales with the team.
Build and lead a team over time
Hire your first growth team members as the function scales.
Manage contractors, agencies, and designers as needed to bring programs to life.
Set the bar for quality and execution across everything growth touches.
We’d love to hear from you if…
You’re passionate about Joyful Health’s mission — you care deeply about empowering healthcare practices, improving financial outcomes, and fixing what’s broken in healthcare.
You love being externally facing — you’re energized by building relationships, running events, and creating meaningful industry touchpoints.
-
You have 8–12+ years of relevant experience, ideally in:
Growth, marketing, or GTM leadership at early-stage or growth-stage startups
Partnerships, community, or ecosystem development
Event-led GTM or program management
Healthcare or healthtech (a strong plus)
You've built a growth function before (or a meaningful piece of one) and know what good looks like at each stage.
You've managed people, budgets, and cross-functional programs.
You thrive in ambiguity and build structure from scratch — you create clarity, repeatability, and process where none exists.
You are exceptionally organized and operationally strong — you manage logistics with excellence, love project planning, and can run multiple programs simultaneously without dropping the ball.
You have a builder mentality — you iterate quickly, test new ideas, and turn what works into a system.
You work extremely well cross-functionally — you shine in roles that require coordinating between founders, sales, product, and SMEs.
You have excellent communication skills — warm, crisp, credible, and tailored to diverse stakeholders.
You're energized by events — not just attending them, but designing and running them with precision and care.
