Building the financial operating system for healthcare, and bringing the joy back to healthcare by fixing the financial chaos behind it.
The healthcare payment system is a complex and inefficient maze - healthcare practices leave $125 billion in revenue uncollected each year, lost in the chaos of fragmented financial data, manual workflows, and opaque payer systems. This financial uncertainty leaves practices struggling to stay afloat, while valuable revenue slips through the cracks.
Joyful Health is building the AI-powered financial operating system for healthcare practices. Our mission is to bring the joy back to running a private practice by simplifying financial operations so providers can focus on patient care. We spent 10 months working as fractional CFOs for a dozen practices, doing this work side by side with providers as we developed our product.
We just closed a funding round led by world-class investors and angels including the founders of MongoDB & KAYAK.

The Role

Role Description

We're looking for a Founding Sales Hire to build and lead our sales function at Joyful Health. As our first dedicated sales team member, you'll own the full sales cycle from prospecting to close, while establishing the processes and systems that will scale our revenue growth.
This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role perfect for an experienced sales professional who thrives in early-stage environments. You'll be selling our revenue recovery services to outpatient healthcare practices (10-200+ providers) with deal sizes averaging 6-figure ACV.
You should have a proven track record selling to healthcare practices, ideally with RCM/billing experience. This role requires someone who's comfortable building from scratch - you'll establish our outbound motion, optimize our inbound channels, and create the sales infrastructure that enables our next phase of growth.
This role is full-time and based in NYC. We'll provide relocation assistance for the right candidate.

What you'll do…

Own the full sales cycle: Prospect, qualify, demo, negotiate, and close deals with outpatient healthcare practices ranging from 10-200+ providers
Build our outbound sales motion: Develop and execute outbound strategies including lead scoring, cold outreach, & prospecting sequences to generate qualified pipeline
Optimize inbound conversion: Work with our existing bottoms-up channels (events, community, partnerships) to improve lead qualification and conversion rates
Establish sales operations: Implement CRM systems, sales processes, reporting dashboards, and forecasting methods to create a scalable sales foundation
Support on the development of sales materials: Support our team on the development of sales materials (i.e. decks, case studies, ROI calculations, etc.) that effectively communicate our value proposition
Partner cross-functionally: Work closely with our RCM team to understand customer needs, with marketing on lead generation, and with leadership on pricing and positioning
Build relationships in healthcare: Represent Joyful Health at industry events, build a network within the RCM community, and establish thought leadership

We’d love to hear from you if…

You're passionate about Joyful Health's mission – You want to solve real problems for healthcare providers and help them recover revenue they've earned but can't collect
You have strong B2B sales experience in healthcare
5-7+ years of B2B sales experience, with at least 3+ years selling to outpatient healthcare practices
Track record of consistently hitting/exceeding quota in deals $50k+ ACV
Ideally, previous experience at early-stage startups (Series A/B preferred). Bonus points if you were a founding growth hire before
You understand the RCM/billing landscape
Familiarity with revenue cycle management, medical billing, or healthcare finance is strongly preferred
Understanding of how outpatient practices operate and make purchasing decisions
You're a full-stack sales professional
Comfortable with both outbound prospecting and inbound lead management
Skilled at building relationships and managing complex stakeholder groups
You thrive in early-stage environments
Experience as an early sales hire (first 3 sales team members) at a startup
Comfortable with ambiguity and building processes from scratch
Scrappy execution mindset - willing to do whatever it takes to drive results
Natural curiosity and problem-solving approach when facing new challenges
You're results-driven and metrics-focused
Strong track record of pipeline generation and quota attainment
Experience with CRM systems and sales analytics
Data-driven approach to sales process optimization
