Who Are We Looking For?

We're looking for a high-caliber Global Buyer to help strengthen and scale Cavela's rapidly growing global manufacturing network.

This is not a purchasing coordinator role. This is not a broker role. And this is not a "send RFQs and forward quotes" role.

We're looking for someone who understands both buying and sourcing.

• You have real factory relationships across global markets and know how to identify, vet, and develop world-class manufacturing partners.
• You've worked with leading retailers, brands, importers, or consumer products companies and understand what it takes to source products that consistently meet demanding quality, cost, and delivery standards.
• You understand products deeply. You know when a supplier is overpromising, manipulating timelines, inflating costs, or cutting corners. You negotiate confidently. You build long-term supplier relationships strategically. And you can translate product requirements into clear, technical specifications that manufacturers can actually execute.
• Every sourcing market operates differently. You understand those regional nuances and know how to navigate them effectively.
• You are highly organized, and are very meticulous about project tracking and documentation. You quickly learn and adapt to internal systems, processes, and workflows as they evolve.

This role is critical to ensuring our manufacturing network continues to scale while maintaining the quality, reliability, and commercial discipline our customers expect. You would report directly to our Heads of Sourcing & Biz Ops.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen & Scale Our Global Supplier Network: Deepen our existing factory relationships while identifying and onboarding exceptional manufacturers that complement our growing network.
• Factory Vetting & Supplier Qualification: Evaluate manufacturers for capability, quality systems, compliance, production capacity, reliability, and long-term fit.
• Strategic Buying & Supplier Management: Negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, payment terms, and commercial agreements while building lasting supplier partnerships.
• Product & Manufacturing Expertise: Translate product requirements into detailed, execution-ready manufacturing specifications that reduce production risk and ambiguity.
• Retail-Grade Sourcing: Source products and suppliers capable of meeting the standards of leading retailers and consumer brands.
• Cross-Functional Execution: Partner closely with Cavela's sourcing and operations teams to ensure supplier relationships are scalable, documented, and operationally excellent.
• Systems & Process Excellence: Maintain accurate supplier data and sourcing activity within Cavela's sourcing systems and workflows.
• Risk Management: Anticipate supplier risks early and resolve production, quality, and delivery issues before they impact customers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in buying, sourcing, procurement, or supplier management.
• Experience working with major retailers, brands, importers, or consumer products companies (e.g. TJX, Ross, Walmart, Costco, Target, or similar).
• Demonstrated experience identifying, vetting, and developing direct factory relationships.
• Existing network of manufacturers and suppliers is strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, and commercial agreements.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, supplier evaluation, and production risk.
• Ability to translate product requirements into clear manufacturing specifications.
• Excellent commercial judgment and supplier relationship management skills.
• Comfortable working with ERPs, sourcing platforms, custom CRMs, and other operational systems.
• High ownership mindset and thrives in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.

Nice to Have

• Extensive experience sourcing in markets beyond Asia.
• Experience in off-price retail, private label, or consumer goods sourcing.
• Experience working directly with factories rather than solely through trading companies.
• Multilingual capabilities.
• Experience helping build scalable supplier management processes.
